I cried my eyes out last night

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Ok, so its not very manly to admit it, but I cried my eyes out last night

I’d come up from the office (we have a 3 story house with the ground floor converted to offices) to find Lucie visibly upset

It turns out she’d been reading stories on http://www.uk-cherubs.org.uk/ of babies who’d had the same condition as our daughter Summer (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) but hadn’t survived.

Despite me not wanting to, something inside me felt COMPELLED to read some.

And it’s a good job I did!

As I read name after name of babies who had sadly passed away (somwhere between 33-50% of babies with the condition die at birth or shortly after) it reminded me of how totally and utterly eternally grateful I am for my baby girl.

It certainly but my ‘problems’ into perspective. (Lucie says I was particularly grumpy yesterday!) ;o)

But as I continued to read, I noticed a very, very interesting pattern…

Whether the story was of a baby who survived or not, they nearly all mentioned the same thing…

The love, care and support the families got from the NURSES.

Here are some of the most dedicated, hardworking and caring men and women on the planet, literally working on the front line, saving children’s lives every day and yet what do they get in return…?

An absolute pittance!

And that’s when I got a crazy idea…

I realised that despite putting on the most incredible NLP & Coaching Business Conference last September and raising over £31,000 for the Tiny Babies, Big Appeal Charity…..

It’s just not enough.

I want more.

They DESERVE more.

So whilst the idea kind of scares the crap out of me, it’s time to step up.

I want to raise £50,000+ to help the nurses and carers who support families with sick children.

When you have no money, a little can mean a LOT.

I have no real concept of HOW I’m going to do this, I’m not clear on exactly how I’ll use the money to help these angels (I also know there is lots of red tape when it comes to giving to nurses after trying to ‘help out’ a nurse who looked after Summer), but I do know this…

I WILL find a way.

So here’s what I’ve decided to do…

On 30-31 January 2010 I will host a 2 day seminar called ‘The Client Attraction System: How to get more coaching clients than you could ever handle’

It will be the very best seminar I have ever done.

The best content

The best speakers

The best experience

Period.

I’m going to present you with a line up of speakers who are changing the world, impacting peoples lives in a positive wat AND are literally flooded with more clients than they could handle.

And I’m going to persuade them to show you exactly how YOU CAN do the same.

And ALL the money will go to charity.

Wait, wait, WAIT!

I’ve just had an even better idea…

On the Saturday night we’re going to have a black tie dinner and charity auction (plus another surprise that I don’t want to reveal just yet!)

But…

In order to raise my target of £50,000 I’m either going to have to get more people than last time (there were 300 at the last event), or ask for a bigger donation per person (it was between £97-£197 last time), or both.

So I have a simple question for you…

IF I deliver on my commitments to you that I’ve made above and give you the most blow away experience of your entire life…. WILL YOU HELP ME?

If you’re seriously interested in attending this event, please keep your eyes on this blog!

If you’ve also got suggestions for speakers or prizes for the charity auction, please email me

Right, I better get going, I’ve got some serious work to do…

With a refreshed appreciation for life

Dan

P.S. We’ll get to have fun, learn, contribute to each others lives and raise money for a tremendouly worthy cause… how cool is life!?!?!

Q: They can’t afford my coaching fees - What should I do?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

>>>Hey, did you know there are only 4 ways to create wealth through coaching?

Go here to check them out now:
http://www.danbradbury.com/coachescode

***SUCCESS STORY***

Dan

I love your newsletter and i have been reading it
for almost a year. I’ve now had a successful
coaching business for 9 months because of you!

I used to the do all the usual things everybody does
to try and find clients, networking, going to conferences
giving away free sessions, being really helpful,
responding to their emails, returning calls, etc,
but I just seemed to attract the freeloaders who
werent interested in paying for my services

But once i started applying your techniques I instantly
started attracting better quality clients. I positioned
myself more effectively using your ‘pre-frame’ technique,
made myself more scarce, charged higher prices, and
also threw in a little of ‘going above and beyond’ to catch
them off guard.

Can you believe that Ive now got clients actively seeking
ME out and begging me to coach them!

The bottom line is I changed my approach and changed
my results. THANKS DAN!

- Charles Swindale, Milton Keynes

>>>MY COMMENTS:

What’s this you say?

You have a great coaching business, where clients
get in touch with you and beg for you to coach them?

Very powerful stuff.

You know, in your letter you mentioned ‘going above
and beyond’ to ‘catch them off guard.’

I would like to share a little profound
revelation:

It’s OK to be go above and beyond!

The problem is that most coaches do it TOO MUCH,
and TOO SOON. And they come across as desperate.

The deposition themselves and appear as though they
are just trying to make the sale.

It’s a good thing to deliver unbelievable value to your
clients, just make sure you do it in the right way!

***QUESTION***

Dan,

First of all, I would like to say that I really
enjoy reading your newsletters. A coach friend of
mine started receiving them, and he now has me
reading them too. Now, thanks to you, we have both
adopted the “Rule of 5″ policy.

I have a question that I would like your insight
on.. perhaps I should set the stage with a recent
conversation I had with a potential coaching client.

him: wow, sounds great, so how much do you charge?

me: I’m £85 per session, or if you block book 12 sessions
you only pay for 10

him: OK, well that was a lot more than I was expecting,
I’m not sure I can afford that. Let me think about it and
come back to you.

My question is this.. are most clients really
intimidated by higher than average fees? If so, why?

I’d just like to know if there’s anything I can do to make
these situations go a little more smoothly?

Thanks a lot!

Monica Norman

>>>MY COMMENTS:

Yes, a lot of clients will be intimidated by higher than
average fees…

2 Critical Distinctions

1. For the overwhelming majority of cases, price does
not matter. What matters is the PERCEPTION OF PRICE
in the mind of the client. From the word go, you must be
building the clients expectations for you to be expensive
and creating some contrast (for example by getting them
to quantify what eliminating that problem or achieving that
would be worth to them in financial terms) so that when you
present your fees, they see it as a ‘deal’.

(I also preach you should never, EVER quote your price
on a ‘per session’ basis, but that’s another story)

2. Selection is better than training. In other words, are you
setting up shop at a flea market and then trying to charge
designer prices? Find a more lucrative niche and the clients
will EXPECT you to charge higher fees.

Good luck!

***FOLLOW UP COMMENT***

Dan,

I recently subscribed to your email list hoping to get tips on
how I could become a better coach, instead you are teaching
people how to manipulate others just to make more money.
This is not what coaching is about, if you want to help people
why not give your stuff away for free?

Michael, London

>>>MY COMMENTS:

*sigh*

Michael, let me ask you an important question, if you want to be
a great coach and really help people, what MUST you have in
order to deliver value?

Answer - CLIENTS!

You could be Tony Robbins, if you can’t get clients, you can’t help
people. End of story.

The fact is Michael I see fantastic coaches all the time who are
broke, desperate and miserable, because they have a misguided
belief that if they are just nice enough and think good thoughts, then
clients will come rushing to them.

Well let me ask you this, how’s that working for you?

If you’re anything like the other coaches who fall in to that category
Michael, I know you’re struggling too. That belief is holding you back.

But I can help you.

The reason why you can’t get clients is the same reason why I don’t
give away all my best material free (though I would like to point out that
this content filled newsletter is free!), and that is this PEOPLE DO NOT
VALUE THINGS THEY DO NOT PAY FOR!

So the skills I teach to help ‘manipulate’ people as you put it, are simply
skills to help coaches, position themselves and have clients see the true
value of getting coaching.

If you want to inspire others to achieve their dreams, the best way is to
be living yours. And to me that means helping other people and creating
enough abundance for my family that we can be, do and have anything we
choose.

***BREAKTHROUGH***

Dan, this might seem unusual but I owe you £197.

I purchased a CD set of yours about a year ago but
asked for a refund because “it didn’t work for me”. I
realize now that it wasn’t your material rather my own
issues with money that I had to deal with.

During that time frame I still read your newsletters
and gained more understanding of the mindset of
coaches who “Get it”.

I’m still working on that but as you said, some are
quicker learners than others.

Thanks, Esme Driver, Doncaster.

>>>MY COMMENTS:

SO YOU’RE THE ONE WHO ASKED FOR A REFUND???

Ha, ha, I admire you for coming back a year later and
admitting that you were the issue, not the material.

Most coaches have severe issues around money, and that
is why they will NEVER get any.

I talk about this at length here
http://www.danbradbury.com/coachescode

***QUESTION***

Hey Dan,

I just finished reading your latest newsletter and
I had a thought that I wanted to share. I have a
common sense point to make to any of your readers
that may be on the fence about buying your
materials.

Before I purchased your DVDs, I had doubts because
I wasn’t sure it would be worth the money.   To put
it into perspective, I thought about all the courses
I’d gone on in the past.

Then I roughly added up all the money I had spent on
each for travel, hotel rooms, etc.

Well, after totaling up the money, I realised I
could have bought all your materials (CD and
DVD series) for myself and five of my close
friends and still had money left over!

The point is, to any coach or want to be coach
out there, take the money you’re wasting
training courses and buy Dan’s CD/DVD
series.  It’s worth it.

Now to my question. I know this is getting long
but I gave you a plug so you owe me.

Can you recommend any books
on the subject of persuassion skills and body
language? Thanks,

Adam Evan-Jones

>>>MY COMMENTS:

You’re right about one thing…

If most coaches added up all the money they’ve
WASTED on training, they’d realise what a BAD
investment they’ve made (and what a great
investment my stuff is!)

The best books I’ve ever read on persuasion
is ‘Influence - The Psychology of Persusasion’ by
Dr Robert Cialdini.

It’s my bible. In fact at my high price coach
trainings it’s mandatory that all students study it.

Not only does it show you how to influence
people to buy from you, far more importantly it
shows you how to influence them to keep them happy
and therefore maintain them as clients.

***COMMENT***

Dan,

Sometimes I have to just stop in the middle of
your newsletters and take a break because the
stuff you deliver is so good that I feel a little
overwhelmed! I love the Coaches Code
CD set and interviews with top coaches collection.

You really do more good in the lives you touch
then you know. I hope you can truly appreciate
that statement and all that it means.

Best regards, Elaine Korin. Los Angeles, USA

>>>MY COMMENTS:

Yes, sometimes I think I should be knighted for
my good works!

Trust me, if you had this much fun doing what
I’m doing, you’d do it, too…

…and a couple of final thoughts…

There are two KEY aspects of learning how to be
successful by coaching and training others

1) The Inner Game

2) The Outer Game

The INNER GAME is all about learning how to
THINK and how to manage your thoughts and
emotions. It’s also about understanding how and
why we behave the way that what do and how to
influence ourselves and others

The OUTER GAME is all of the techniques, what
to say, the questions to ask, etc.

Which is more important?

Well, they’re BOTH important.

But what I notice is that most coaches want to
learn the INNER GAME first.

I can remember when I first started learning
this stuff.

I had this idea in my mind that if I could
learn how to think rich then I would become rich.

But guess what?

Once I learned that stuff, I sat at home waiting
for it all to come to me!

Nothing happened.

I realiaed that there had to be more.

And, as it turns out, there is. A LOT more, in
fact.

In my Coaches Code CD program, I spend several
HOURS teaching both the Inner and Outer aspects of
building a successful and profitable coaching business
so you can help others and create a life you love.

This stuff is CRITICAL to your success.

I wouldn’t have taken all the time, effort, and
energy to put this together unless I thought it
was important.

If you want to overcome your challenges and
really take your success to the next level, then
you owe it to yourself to check it out.

It’s here:
http://www.danbradbury.com/coachescode

I’ll talk to you again soon. Please reply to this
email if you have any questions or comments you’d
like to see in the next issue.

Warmest regards

The Life Coaching Conspiracy

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

The honourable profession of coaching is hiding a very dark secret…

Announcing the new and damning report:

‘The Life Coaching Conspiracy’

Since the life coaching industry really took hold in the UK around 1999, the industry has seen an unprecendented 200% average growth EVERY YEAR!

But This ‘Whiter Than White’ Industry Has a Very Dark Secret to Tell…

http://www.danbradbury.com/conspiracy/

In this 23 page report I reveal the 5 big lies the biggest coach training companies are using that keep the coaches they train poor whilst they make millions each year

I also reveal how, once discovered, I went from constantly running up debt as acoach without any paying clients (sound familiar?) to a high six figure income from coaching every single year, DESPITE the recession, and how YOU can do the same…

It’s all detailed in my latest FREE, no “B.S” report: The Life Coaching Conspiracy.

You can get it here –> http://www.danbradbury.com/conspiracy/

Warmest regards

Why an uncertain coach can’t attract clients…

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Why an uncertain coach can’t attract clients…

Hey! What’s the fastest way to learn about getting clients and building a successful coaching business? Go here and unlock ‘The Coaches Code’…

http://www.danbradbury.com/coachescode

***QUESTION***

Dan,

I got your CD’s and I’ve listened to them twice. It’s helped me to pinpoint areas where I need to improve and basically understand what I have to do to get some paying clients. However I have an unusual situation.

Normally, I’m outgoing, friendly and a very good communicator and networker. The problem is, when I’m at my local BNI or a networking meeting and somebody expresses an interest in my coaching, my mind goes blank. It’s almost like my brain locks and we end up having a very generic discussion about coaching, rather than if I can help them and making them a client. How do I overcome this?

Yours,

Mike Morris, Bristol

>>>MY COMMENTS:

I think your problem is really pretty simple.

You are experiencing something that I went through hundreds of times. In fact, I think that most coaches have been through this cycle at some point in life.

One of the concepts that I teach is “Have one good default thing to do in common situations”.

In other words, it sounds to me like you just haven’t taken the time to work out a basic system for yourself that will allow you to naturally engage and convert potential clients you come across in one of these situations.

Here’s your homework:

Take out a piece of paper right now, and write down just one way to take a conversation with a potential client from ‘interested’ to free inital session, arrange a meeting, or whatever your outcome would be.

Next, plan out EXACTLY how it should go in your mind.

Next, mentally rehearse this scenario over and over and over until you have it clearly in your mind.

Finally, go to your next potential networking meeting and use this one introduction to engage 10 potential clients.

The next day, sit down again for a few minutes and think about how it worked for you.

Think about ways you could improve your approach, and if you come up with some good innovations, go ahead and do the same process of mentally rehearsing the new ideas until you have them down.

One thing that really makes me cringe is that MOST COACHES SPEND MORE TIME REHEARSING THEIR VOICEMAIL MESSAGE THAN THEY DO REHEARSING SCENARIOS WITH POTENTIAL CLIENTS.

You need one good, solid, default thing to do in each common situation with potential clients. So pick one, and refine it until your mind no longer goes blank!

***COMMENT***

Hey Dan, one of the things I noticed about coaches who can’t get any clients/training/etc is that they aren’t actively seeking out business enough. Having your own business as a coach makes you realize that you have to let people know about your product, you. I am always amazed by coaches who complain they can’t get any clients and then stay home and read a personal development book rather than getting out there and meeting people.

Daniel Caswell, Lancs

>>>MY COMMENTS:

I couldn’t agree more Daniel! (nice name that!)

Sometimes I don’t mention the obvious enough.
And I thank you for reminding me and everyone else of one of the basic fundamental truths about being successful in coaching.

A great concept I learned from a smart guy called Mark Layder was ‘IPA’s’ or ‘Income Producing Activity’. As the name suggests, an IPA is any activity that produces income, either immediately or over time. So all marketing, networking, holding seminars, giving away a free report, etc falls in this category. Paperwork, admin, etc does not! Networking counts as an IPA only when you’ve got a specific outcome and strategy for converting it into income (see above)

The bottom line is most coaches, trainers etc think that they are working, when really they are just wasting time. I can pretty much guess you income if I know how much time per DAY you spend on IPA’s. (HINT: It should take up the majority of your working day)

Thanks again!

***SUCCESS STORY***

Dan,

I have to say first and foremost that you are a genius. While I have had some paying coaching clients, it never dawned on me the reason that I was never able to leave my job and have a full time coaching business was because I acted uncertain, and was too wishy-washy with leads.

I am not a very experienced coach, but my cleints have all described my coaching as fantastic, best ever, etc (consequently, I have realized that how good a coach you are has very, very little to do with being successful).

I have been putting your marketing tactics from the coaches code to work lately and I have to admit they work like a dream, as I have gone from 3 to 11 paying clients in less than 30 days! I use online forums in my niche to start conversations with prospects and ask them some great questions and then go on to ask them if they are interested in having coaching.  Most of the time they say “maybe, but I don’t have the money right now” (or something similar)

Now this is an important point for a lot of your readers. Everyone, listen up…

Just because a prospect says they don’t have the money doesn’t mean it’s true!

I have found on numerous occasions that that they just say that because they are not sure or don’t want to be sold to, but when you get talking to them about their needs, what their biggest goals are and what’s getting in the way, etc they forget about money and sign right up!
Thanks again! Keep up the good work!

Jonathan Brain, Newcastle

>>>MY COMMENTS:

You mentioned 2 key points there Jonathan that I want to make sure I emphasise;

‘I was never able to leave my job and have a full time coaching business was because I acted uncertain, and was too wishy-washy with leads’

And

‘when you get talking to them about their needs, what their biggest goals are and what’s getting in the way, etc they forget about money and sign right up’

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

NOBODY WANTS COACHING!!! What they want is an outcome, either the achievement of a goal or the solution to a problem because they belief that will give them the feelings they want!

Your job and your only job at this stage is to show them how coaching with you will help them get their outcome, more quickly and more easily than they ever thought possible.

Whenever two people meet, one person always influences the other

The person with the most certainty wins…

Your email is great. It should be read 10 times by any coach who is learning about this stuff, and memorized.

As a side note, I want to thank you for your compliments of me and my material. Most coaches think that if they had more training or a better website or a book, etc, they wouldn’t need this material… but as you know, if you don’t understand how the coaching business works, then almost nothing can help you.

…and by the way, if you’re reading this Mailbag right now and you are wondering how you can take your success with coaching to the next level RIGHT NOW, then I’d recommend that you start out with my CD set “The Coaches Code”. In a few hours worth of listening, you can learn the basics that have taken me literally YEARS to figure out. Just go to:

…and you can get it and be listening to it in a just a few minutes from right now. (When you order, the MP3’s are on the thank you page)

Q: How do I find my niche? What are the best coaching niches?

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

If you’re an intelligent coach, you appreciate the importance of having
a niche, but the real questions are how do I find MY niche and what
are the hottest niche markets right now…

First, let me congratulate you on recognising you need a niche. This
instantly separates you from the thousands and thousands of coaches
who insist on being a ‘life coach’ despite the fact its not working and
they have no clients!

*sigh*

Now, I want you to print off the following quote and place it above
your desk…

‘The Narrower My Niche, The Broader My Profits’

You must differentiate yourself and make yourself stand out with an
idea or concept for your coaching business that instantly grabs attention.

Why?

Because there are just too many other coaches out there.  There is far too
much noise going on in the market place.

If you have ever read the book Blink by Malcom Gladwell, you will appreciate
that it needs to be something that you can get in an instant.  A fantastic
example of this is Paul McKenna’s I Can Make You Thin.

The book title sums up what it’s all about in a nutshell, and the same for his
other most successful books, I Can Make You Sleep and I Can Make You Rich.

It’s a key concept, and more importantly, a key pain that people can connect
to.  They understand what it’s about, they get it.

Another good example is Jason Vale, The Juice Master.  Instantly you
understand what Jason is about.  He’s about juicing; he’s about showing you
how to get more health, energy, and vibrancy in your life using the power of
juicing.

This narrow focus that has allowed Jason to become an international
celebrity and a very wealthy coach.  I could go on and on and on, but in a
nutshell, you need to find some way of differentiating yourself.

Here are a couple of ways to do that

1.    Pick a niche.  There are two easy ways to do this, you can either a) go with
your passions, hobbies, interests or relevant experience, or you can b) go after
the most lucrative markets.

If you choose a), you use the two P’s.  What is the person that you’re looking
for and what is their pain?

If you understand what the type of person is going to look for your products and
services and you understand what their biggest pain is, you know where to go
to look for them, to find them, and to turn them into clients.

This immediately specializes you and marks you out as different from all the
other generic coaches out there.  You become a specialist.

If you choose b), I’ll tell you right now that by far and away the most profitable
niche for coaches right now is coaching small business owners.

Not only are a lot of business owners in pain right now and desperate to make
a change, but also being entrepreneurs they are more open to trying new things
and taking risks.

Consequently, if you know what you’re doing it’s relatively easy to get half a dozen
small businesses each paying you a monthly retainer plus a percentage of the
growth you help them create.

(for more info on how to do this see the ‘recommended resource’ box at the
bottom of this email)

2.    Become a published author of either a book or your own products

This immediately marks you out as being different, as being an expert in your field
because you can literally say you wrote a book on the subject.

We assume that anybody that has recorded a CD set or has written a book must
be an expert on a field.  This isn’t true of course, but it certainly gives that
impression in the marketplace, which immediately gives you a competitive advantage.

3.    Become a celebrity

This doesn’t mean you should go and enter into Big Brother.  What it does mean is
that you have to find a way of making your name instantly recognizable in your
niche market.

Unless you have millions of pounds to spend to put yourself on the level with a
Tony Robbins-type person, the quickest, easiest, and fastest way to become
successful in coaching is to go with a narrow focus and find a niche.

I hope that helps…

Business Growth Coaches Required to Work with Paying Clients

I’ve personally seen a huge surge in the number of inquiries for my business growth/’profit boosting’ coaching services in the past 6 months.

This is because of the current market and people not knowing what to do. Consequently the percentage of business owners open to doing a ‘profit sharing’ deal (where the coach gets a fee PLUS a percentage of the growth the help create) is increasing DRAMATICALLY.

However…

Because of my other companies and (recently increased!) family commitments, I can only handle about 3-5 private clients at any one time.

And since my personal target is to make a minimum of £50,000 per year per client, I always choose the biggest and best ‘profit boosting’ opportunities I can find.

Here’s what that means…

There are ALWAYS more clients demanding my business growth services than I have time for, or they do not offer me enough upside potential to justify my personal involvement.

Here’s where you come in…

I would like to literally give these clients to you to profit from!

I’ve already found a number of coaches to work with, but I’m looking for just one more…
